Gothenburgs Science Festival (Vetenskapsfestivalen) is currently on-going and Witlef gave a public presentation this Saturday. Young and old were equally fascinated by the pursuit to research the limits of quantum mechanics. It was great fun to present our research to the public and I received many excellent questions and saw kids with curious eyes in the audience!

The ERC has awarded Witlef with a Consolidator Grant. This is great news as it allows our lab to push further the frontiers of quantum physics to more macroscopic objects. The goal of the project is to entangle multiple magnetically levitated superconducting particles – all on a chip. We will start this exciting endeavor on Jan 1st 2024. Stay tuned!

We welcome Hannes Pfeifer as a PostDoctoral researcher in our group. He will join us from the University of Bonn and contribute to our activities in the field of optomechanics. We would also like to congratulate him to be awarded a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie PostDoctoral fellowship from the EU. What a great achievement!

Sushanth graduated on Tuesday! Congrats, this is well deserved and we are very happy for you. Sushanth graduated with his results on our optomechanics experiments. All the details you can read in his PhD thesis here. Now, we wish you all the best for your future! And, we love your hat!

The first PhD student form our lab graduated on Jan 26. Congrats to Martí! This PhD is well deserved. You built up the maglev experiment from scratch: from an empty lab to a Q of 10^5 of the first magnetically levitated superconducting microparticles on a chip. This is a spectacular achievement. Also, Martí received the first self-built PhD hat from our lab. We are very proud of you and wish you all the best for your future!
