Our recent work on Suspended photonic crystal membranes in AlGaAs heterostructures for integrated multi-element optomechanics has been published in the special issue on Hybrid Quantum Devices as Editor’s pick in Appl. The Committee of the Supervisor of the Year 2019/2020 award at Chalmers has decided to grant an Honourable Mention to Witlef at MC2. I am very grateful for that and I will continue along this spirit!

Gerard Higgins from the group of Markus Hennrich at Stockholm University just received a prestigious international PostDoc grant from VR that allows him to research for three years. Congrats! Gerard will spent 1/3 of his time with us at Chalmers and 2/3 of his time in the group of Markus Aspelmeyer at the University of Vienna, Austria. His goal is to bring more macroscopic objects into quantum states by using magnetically levitated particles. See the MC2 news article here.

Today we had our kick-off meeting of the EI Nano project Quantum optics meets 2D materials with Ermin, Saroj, Josh, Hanlin and Joey. Let us get it going!
